Overall, this will be the fourth Test series between the two sides in the West Indies. The most recent Test series between the two sides took place in Sri Lanka, in October 2015, where the hosts thrashed West Indies 2-0 to claim the Sobers-Tissera Trophy.

Newcastle Could Sign £25m Talent After Harvey Barnes

Newcastle United have been preparing for their long-awaited return to the Champions League this summer and Eddie Howe has been working on identifying new additions that can take his already impressive squad to the next level.

The Magpies quickly confirmed the signing of AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali at the beginning of this month and are now set to complete their second signing of the summer, following the imminent departure of French winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle have agreed a deal with recently-relegated club Leicester City to sign their forward Harvey Barnes in a £38m deal and is thought to be the direct replacement for Saint-Maximin, who will be shortly completing a move to the Saudi Pro League via Al Ahli.

The North East outfit have been battling with Financial Fair Play restrictions throughout the transfer window, however, the exit of their 26-year-old attacker now presents an opportunity to strengthen key positions for Howe, who could now look to steal another relegated star to bolster his options at the other end of the pitch.

Who are Newcastle's transfer targets?

Newcastle have been strongly linked with a move for Southampton full-back Valentino Livramento over the last month, with the former Bournemouth boss keen to add depth in both the wider forward and wider defensive roles.

Football Insider reported on Tuesday that Newcastle are now ready to submit an improved offer on their initial £15m bid that was quickly rejected by his south coast club.

The Tyneside club reportedly remain in talks with Saints and are willing to increase their bid to £25m to secure the services of Livramento before Premier League football resumes next month.

How good is Tino Livramento?

There is no doubt that Livramento – hailed a "talent" by former Spurs ace Ledley King – is one of the top young prospects to drop into the Championship last season, despite missing out on virtually the entire 38-game campaign due to an ACL injury – spending 353 days in recovery.

When reflecting on the full-back's last full season in the Premier League (2021/22), the Cobham academy graduate displayed glimpses of his incredible talent and attacking-minded presence in the defensive set-up at St Mary's.

The 20-year-old ranked in the top 16% of his Premier League positional peers for progressive carries and successful take-ons, as well as ranking in the top 3% for interceptions, as per FBref, which is an impressive feat for a young player in their debut season.

Livramento has, of course, earned high praise for his stand-out performances, with former Saints star Theo Walcott waxing lyrical about the youngster's huge talent and even comparing him to Gareth Bale – who also played as a full-back in the early stages of his career:

"You can just see he's got an aura about him around the place," Walcott told talkSPORT.

"Do you know what, he reminds me a little bit of Gareth when he came through as a full-back.

"That's a big statement of course to compare him to someone like that but just feel like his presence and the way he drives and the pace and the power and it's no surprises that you know what he's going to do.

"He's so strong with the ball and very clever and technically he is fantastic."

Indeed, Howe already has an incredible leader and right-back in Kieran Trippier, however, the England international will turn 33 in the early stages of next season, so it would not only make sense for the club to capture a worthy successor but also a player who can rotate in the role to ensure they can compete in all competitions and avoid injury issues.

With that being said, Livramento would be another great prospect on top of Barnes for the future of Newcastle's squad and could quickly become Howe's next prodigy if he can emulate his performances before his injury issues.

Chelsea: Pochettino wants "star boy" in "addition to Caicedo"

Chelsea bringing in Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo alongside Ajax star Mohammed Kudus this summer to work alongside Enzo Fernandez could formulate a 'dynamic' midfield trio at Stamford Bridge, according to journalist Paul Brown.

What's the latest on Chelsea's pursuit of Caicedo and Kudus?

As per The Guardian, Chelsea and Brighton have stalled in talks over the possibility of Caicedo moving to west London after the Seagulls rejected an £80 million bid for his services.

The report states that Brighton value the Ecuador international at around £100 million and Roberto De Zerbi's men are said to be more open for wiggle room if Chelsea compromise on their stance regarding Levi Colwill, who is a target for Brighton this summer and spent last term on loan at the Amex Stadium.

In terms of Kudus, Football Insider have claimed that Chelsea are closing in on agreeing personal terms with the Ghanaian playmaker and will put 'finishing touches' to a deal to sign him for around £40 million.

Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic departing Chelsea have pushed the arrival of an attack-minded midfielder up the priority list for Mauricio Pochettino.

Kudus, who has been hailed as a "star boy", is also a keen goalscorer and notched 18 goals and seven assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Ajax last term, as per Transfermarkt.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Brown thinks that Caicedo, Kudus and Fernandez could form a midfield three that would be feared by opposing sides in the Premier League.

Brown told FFC: "The Chelsea side of it is a lot more interesting because I think in an ideal world they would like him [Kudus] in addition to Caicedo, which would obviously be a lot of money to outlay. The thought of Enzo, Kudus and Caicedo all playing in the same midfield is really exciting for Chelsea fans. The three of them look quite dynamic, they're very young, they've got their best years ahead of them, I think Chelsea would be set for years if they were able to do that kind of business this window. It doesn't look at the moment like Kudus is close to leaving his club, so whoever might go for him needs to step up that chase over the next couple of weeks."

What next for Chelsea?

Player sales have been an important part of Chelsea's operation to recoup funds to spend in the transfer market and will continue to strongly impact their window between now and the close of play.

Conor Gallagher has been linked with a move to West Ham United in recent times and the Hammers have seen a bid worth £40 million booted out for his services, according to BBC Sport.

Conor Gallagher

In terms of potential incomings, RMC Sport via talkSPORT claim that the Blues have submitted a £39 million bid for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, who is said to have reached 'an agreement in principle' over a move to Stamford Bridge.

Montpellier striker Elye Wahi is another name that Chelsea are keen to bring to west London and it is said that they are closing in on signing the 20-year-old, who will then be loaned to their satellite club Strasbourg to continue his development, as per The Daily Mail.

Burnley Told To Pay £8.6m To Land 20-Year-Old Wonderkid

Burnley have been told how much they would have to pay €10m to land Aster Vranckx this summer, according to a report from DH, via Sport Witness.

Who is Aster Vranckx?

The 20-year-old currently plays for Wolfsburg in Germany, but didn't spend the 2022/23 campaign with the club. Instead, he was sent out on a season-long loan deal to AC Milan, and he featured more for the Italian outfit than he had managed with the Bundesliga club last campaign.

Wolfsburg gave him only one league outing before his move, while the Serie A club played him on nine occasions in the league with two of those coming from the start. It meant the midfielder spent most of his time sidelined and managed no goals or assists, but earned some valuable experience in a high level side – Milan made the last four of the Champions League.

Having been given his debut for Wolfsburg in his teens, he has also showcased an ability to perform in a top league. When he first arrived in Germany, he played 24 times in the Bundesliga for them and even chipped in with two goals despite being just 18 at the time. Prior to that, he had also impressed with Mechelen in Belgium – he made his debut for the First Division A side at just 16 and went on to play in 38 league games for them during his time there, with five goals and three assists.

Are Burnley signing Aster Vranckx?

Vranckx then is only relatively early on in his career but has already racked up over 50 league games in total. However, with his gametime dipping at his parent club, it appears he could be available this summer and there is interest in his services.

According to a report from DH, via Sport Witness, the wonderkid is on the radar of Burnley in the Premier League but also Fulham and PSV. It seems as though Wolfsburg are prepared to let him leave, as he isn't a part of their plans at the club and a deal could therefore happen.

No official bid has been made by any of the aforementioned teams – it seems to be just interest at this point – but the German outfit have already slapped a 10 million Euro (£8.6m) price tag on his head should any offers come in. It means the Clarets would need to stump up a fair amount of cash to sign the youngster.

He already appears to have caught the eye of those who have watched him. Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has highlighted Vranckx as part of what he describes as a "superb generation" of talent in midfield for his country Belgium.

Vranckx has already managed two caps for his national team, and the potential appears to be there for the 20-year-old to perhaps play a prominent part for them in the future. If Burnley did snap him up then, it appears they could be landing a real gem – it's just whether they would be prepared to take such an expensive gamble by their standards.

Aston Villa Eyeing Move For £49k-A-Week USA Midfielder

Aston Villa are believed to be interested in signing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie in the summer transfer window, according to a new update.

Was Weston McKennie a flop at Leeds?

The £49,000-a-week American is currently a Juventus player, with his deal there expiring in the summer of 2025, but it looks as though he is likely to move on in the current window.

Back in January, McKennie joined Leeds United on loan, coming in as what looked like an exciting signing for the Whites, and one that could help them pull clear from the Premier League relegation zone after a poor first half of the season. Instead, there is no question that he was a disappointment at Elland Road overall, ultimately failing to help his team remain in the top flight.

The 24-year-old made 19 appearances in the league for Leeds, not managing to score once and only registering one assist in that time, and his time there went "badly, very badly indeed". Unsurprisingly, there was little talk of McKennie joining permanently at the end of last season, given the Whites' relegation to the Championship, and the midfielder's future remains up in the air.

With Villa continuing to look at summer transfer business of their own, however, it looks as though the Juve man could be a target for them, according to a new update.

weston-mckennie-leeds-united-premier-league

Are Aston Villa signing Weston McKennie this summer?

According to Italian publication Calciomercato [via The Boot Room], the Villans are keen on the idea of signing McKennie this summer, with the USA international wanting to prove himself again in the Premier League. They are far from alone in being the only club interested, however, with Borussia Dortmund and Galatasaray also mentioned in the report.

While Juve are believed to have wanted £34.2m for his services at one point, there are now willing to sell him for "drastically" less than that, accepting that his stock has fallen a little in recent months.

There is no doubt that some Villa fans would have reservations about the club bringing in McKennie, due to the level of his performances for Leeds, but they are in a better position than the Whites were, and he could thrive alongside superior players, also feeling more at home if the move is a permanent one.

It shouldn't be forgotten that the midfielder enjoyed a good 2022 World Cup campaign with the USA, making four starts in impressive fashion, and he has also been hailed as "excellent" by journalist Adam Pope during one performance for Leeds, so seemingly can turn it on in the right setting.

At 24, McKennie has lots of improving to do still, and could reap the rewards of playing under Unai Emery, so if the Villa boss sees him as a strong option, his superb performance as manager to date suggests that he and new transfer guru Monchi be trusted in their decision-making.

The Juve ace could come in and provide good competition for place in the middle of the park, while Villa's UEFA Europa Conference League commitments in 2023/24 also heighten the need for the squad to be rotated sensibly, and he could add the desired squad depth to aid that.

Leeds Manager Update From Elland Road "Sources"

Leeds United are reportedly not close to appointing a new manager despite speculation claiming Daniel Farke has agreed on Elland Road terms.

What’s the latest Leeds manager news?

The Whites are still looking to bring in a new long-term manager under new owners the 49ers Enterprises. However, the club appear to be waiting for the EFL to give the green light on a takeover before any official announcement is made on a new manager.

Time is ticking, though, with a number of Leeds’ first-team players set to report back for pre-season ahead of the new Championship season over the coming days.

There have been plenty of rumours about Farke making the move to Yorkshire, with The Daily Mail claiming on Thursday lunchtime that the German has now agreed on terms with the Whites and has even been shown around the Thorp Arch training complex following a lengthy interview process.

However, according to talkSPORT’s Jason Bourne, Leeds are not close to appointing a new manager, saying on Thursday evening:

“Sources close to Leeds suggesting to talkSPORT they're not close with an appointment of a head coach yet. Daniel Farke is being heavily linked with the role today.”

daniel-farke-leeds-united-manager-gossip-live-updates-liverpool-klopp

What other managers have been linked with Leeds?

It has been a lengthy process on the search for a new manager after Sam Allardyce was relieved of his duties following a temporary stint, and Farke isn’t the only name to have been linked with a move to Leeds.

Reports earlier this month claimed that former Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira and ex-Bournemouth boss Scott Parker were also among the leading candidates. However, it looks as if Vieira is one of the favourites to take over at French side Strasbourg, so a move to Elland Road may not be on the cards.

Speculation has gone quiet with Parker, but on the face of things, you could argue that Farke is the standout option for the three mentioned.

Vieira doesn’t have any experience of the Championship, although Parker has two promotions to the Premier League on his CV with Bournemouth and Fulham, one of which came via the playoffs.

Farke plays a 4-2-3-1 system and has racked up a whopping 251 points in 138 games in the Championship with Norwich City. He led the Canaries to two titles in the second tier, so he could look to make it three with Leeds, but by the looks of it, a move may not be as advanced as some believe.

Man Utd Sizing Up Move For £297k p/w Ace To Bolster Midfield

Manchester United are admirers of Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka as Erik Ten Hag looks to bolster his midfield with some quality additions this summer, journalist Dean Jones has suggested.

What's the latest transfer news involving Manchester United and Leon Goretzka?

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United are monitoring Goretzka as a potential alternative to Declan Rice, who has also been a target for the Red Devils this window.

Taking to Twitter, Plettenberg stated: "News Goretzka: Man Utd is monitoring his situation! MUFC is aware of the fact that his future his uncertain because of Rice. But no concrete talks or negotiations yet. Goretzka is staying calm and his position is clear: He definitely wants to stay as he identifies 100 % with FC Bayern! And: Rummenigge supports him."

As per The Daily Mail, Bayern Munich are also keen suitors in the hunt for West Ham United midfielder Rice, potentially creating a transfer domino effect; however, The Guardian have since revealed that the 24-year-old could be en route to Arsenal in a deal worth a fee in the region of £100 million.

In 2022/23, Goretzka, who has been hailed as a "chameleon" by Bundesliga and an "incredible goal threat", made 40 appearances for Bayern Munich across all competitions and managed to notch six goals and six assists, as per Transfermarkt.

Salary Sport understand that the Germany international earns around £231k-a-week on a contract that runs until the summer of 2026.

Writing in his column for GIVEMESPORT, journalist Jones has indicated that Goretzka is definitely a player that is liked by chiefs at Old Trafford.

Jones suggested: They also need to sort the midfield, where Marcel Sabitzer was on loan last season and Fred and Scott McTominay prepare to have their partnership broken up once and for all. We have seen them make early strides for Mason Mount but look out for the likes of Romeo Lavia. Other players they admire are £230,000-a-week star Leon Goretzka – described as being an "extraordinary" player – Declan Rice and Adrien Rabiot but top target Frenkie De Jong is off limits.

Who else have Manchester United been linked with?

Manchester United have been linked with several players this summer as their hunt for signings gets underway and Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has emerged as a key target, with a bid expected to be formalised for the England international, as per Sky Sports.

Napoli defender Kim Min-jae is also on the radar at Old Trafford and has been earmarked as a priority target this off-season, according to Foot Mercato via ESPN.

Kim Min-jae of Napoli.

Sky Sports also claim that Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund is someone who has been identified to spearhead Manchester United's attack, though a bid for Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane is unlikely.

Ten Hag will be keen to see if he can build a side capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season and Manchester United fans will be pleased to see that their club are taking a proactive approach in the transfer market.

Everton Came Close To Signing £34m "Goal Machine" For Dyche

Everton were close to reaching an agreement to bring AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham back to the Premier League, according to reports.

Is Tammy Abraham leaving AS Roma?

The Chelsea academy graduate’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico isn’t set to expire for another three years, but having established himself as Jose Mourinho’s second best-performing offensive player last season, has caught the eye of Sean Dyche, and not for the first time.

Back in March, iNews reported that the Toffees had an approach for the 25-year-old rejected, with Forzaroma.info later claiming that they were in pole position to secure his services should he depart, a situation that could well have been about to occur.

The Goodison Park outfit were believed to be ready to make a second attempt for the centre-forward after learning that the Serie A side could be forced to cash in on some of their prized assets due to Financial Fair Play regulations, but any kind of deal that was in the pipeline is now firmly off as a result of unforeseen circumstances.

Are Everton signing Abraham?

According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via The Liverpool Echo on June 14 at 15:37pm), Everton were "close to signing" Abraham this summer. The Merseyside outfit were in "advanced negotiations" to recruit the striker with the specified transfer fee being £34.2m. However, after the England star sustained a serious ACL injury, he's facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines and therefore will remain at AS Roma.

AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham.

Everton will be aware that Abraham already has plenty of experience under his belt in England having not only played for Chelsea but also Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa which will be an attractive attribute to Dyche, and considering the prolific threat he could add in the final third, he would be a fantastic signing if ever he did join.

The ROOF client, who’s sponsored by Nike, posted 12 goal contributions (eight goals and four assists) in 38 Serie A appearances last season and had 28 shots on target from 62 which was the highest success rate throughout his squad, via FBRef. This kind of form having seen him previously dubbed a “goal machine” by ex-professional Stephen Elliot.

Finally, Abraham standing at 6 foot 2 would make him the ideal target man up top and he was averaging 2.1 aerial wins per league game during the previous term, so despite a deal not being up for grabs this window, this is a move that should definitely be revisited in January 2024.
