Apesar do empate no início da segunda etapa, o Timão passou todo o primeiro tempo sem acertar um chute no gol. Como se não bastasse a falta de pontaria, houve a falta de finalizações. A primeira delas foi com Otero, em cobrança de falta que passou longo da trave. aos 40 minutos. Na melhor chance da etapa inicial, por exemplo, Matheus Davó hesitou para chutar, tentou driblar Jean, mas acabou desarmado pelo goleiro. Muito pouco para um clube tão grande.
Somente no segundo tempo, quando Vagner Mancini colocou o time mais no ataque é que duas finalizações atingiram a meta: uma com Fábio Santos, em cobrança de pênalti que rendeu o empate, e outra com Ramiro, que aproveitou cruzamento de Gustavo Silva e chutou para a defesa de Jean em dois tempos. O atacante, é justo destacar, ajudou a dar mais volume ofensivo com sua entrada após o intervalo, mas o ímpeto ficou mais nesse início da etapa final.
Essa inoperância no ataque, porém, não foi algo exclusivo desse duelo com o Atlético-GO, mas tem sido recorrente nos últimos jogos. A atuação contra o Dragão foi uma das piores deste Brasileirão, tanto contando apenas o Alvinegro, quanto contando todos os confrontos disputados até aqui no campeonato. E tem sido sempre assim, desde Tiago Nunes, passando por Dyego Coelho e caindo no colo de Vagner Mancini. Como já foi dito neste espaço em outras ocasiões, o problema é crônico, não dos técnicos.
Se analisarmos a partida deste sábado, em termos de chances criadas, de volume de jogo e qualidade de desempenho, conseguir o empate foi uma vitória para o Corinthians. Se o árbitroJean Pierre Gonçalves Lima não tivesse marcado pênalti de Gilvan em Fagner, é bem possível (quase certeza) que o gol não sairia. Mesmo que a equipe tenha melhorado ligeiramente na etapa final.
Por essas e outras, apesar da grandeza do Timão não permitir aceitar tão pouco, a fase do clube exige que esses pontos conquistados em circunstância tão adversas seja comemorados como uma vitória, pois em alguns jogos, como o de Goiânia, nem isso a equipe mereceria pelo que apresentou em campo. A briga no Campeonato Brasileiro ainda é contra a zona de rebaixamento e pelo andar da carruagem deve continuar assim por um bom tempo.

Only once has a West Indian bowler struck more than the 13 times he did in a single Test match. Very very pleasing to see our guys getting some landmarks and hopefully they can keep pressing forward.”The other major talking point from the Test match was a ball-tampering issue that broke out on the third day. The umpires laid a complaint against Sri Lanka’s methods at maintaining the red-ball, following which they refused to take the field for two hours. Eventually, their captain Dinesh Chandimal was charged by the ICC for breaking the code of conduct.Holder would not be drawn into talking about the incident, but he did feel aggrieved that there was little communication between the officials and the West Indies team. “To be honest I wasn’t aware of what was going on early in the morning. Then we got some information of what was going on. Obviously we’ve seen what has transpired and what has come of it. I choose not to get involved with it. The game is in the control of the match referee. Just a bit disappointed with how it was handled. We basically sat around for two hours with not much information.”Holder was far more open in talking about the final Test of the series, starting on Saturday. “Its obviously a special occasion, the first day-night Test in the Caribbean. I guess the people of Barbados – I’m from Barbados as well – will come out and support us. They’re really avid cricket fans and it should be a really good spectacle at the Kensington Oval.”

The Reds have Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Caoimhin Kelleher on the sidelines as it stands, with Jurgen Klopp’s latest blow coming in the form of Robertson, who had to withdraw from international duty after sustaining a serious looking shoulder injury.

How good is Ben Doak?
Whilst Doak isn’t a regular senior feature for Liverpool at this moment in time, he’s previously been dubbed an “explosive” attacker by football talent scout Jacek Kulig for how prolific he can be in the final third, which he’s shown throughout his career.

Sri Lanka legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay has been put on probation with a one-year suspended sentence from all forms of international cricket and also fined 20% of his annual contract fee. Vandersay was penalised by SLC for a misconduct reported over a night out in St Lucia during the recent West Indies tour. It means he can continue to play but will be suspended from all forms of cricket for a year if there is a breach of contractual obligation again within the next 12 months.”Vandersay was imposed with the above punishment, following the player’s admission of guilt over the incident,” an SLC statement noted. “SLC has also informed the player that during the period of serving the aforesaid suspended sentence, any breach of the contractual obligation shall be severely dealt with together with the suspension.”Vandersay had been sent home from the West Indies mid-tour following the second Test in St Lucia after the player had failed to report back to the team hotel following a night out. While Vandersay’s companions that evening had arrived back in time for the team’s departure the following morning, Vandersay himself is said to have missed the deadline. After the sanctions were announced, he apologised for his conduct on Twitter.Sri Lanka’s particularly strong sentence is also thought to be down to the fact that Vandersay had been warned at least once prior by the team management over his conduct.

وكان أحمد رفعت قبل وفاته بأيام قد خرج بتصريحات في برنامج “الكورة مع فايق”، قال فيها إنه تعرض لضغوط شديدة من قبل شخص أو اثنين مسؤولين في الكرة المصرية، أدت إلى دخوله في حالة نفسية صعبة.
يذكر أن الدكتور أشرف صبحي وزير الشباب والرياضة أعلن عن تشكيل لجنة للتحقيق في كافة ملابسات وفاة أحمد رفعت، خاصة بعد حديث اللاعب قبل وفاته بأيام.
