Do you ask them who their favourite female cricketer is?” she said to the journalist in question. “I have always been asked who’s your favourite cricketer but you should ask them who their favourite female cricketer is.”Though Raj plays for what is the most popular and well-supported cricketing nation in the world, she was equally quick to point out that the Indian women do not receive the same amount of publicity as their superstar men.”There’s a lot of difference because we are not a regular on television. Despite that, she conceded to needing to lean on the expertise of the men’s game, especially in the coaching department. Earlier this year, Tushar Arothe replaced Purnima Rau as the Indian women’s coach and Raj admitted the team has benefitted under his guidance.”Men’s cricket sets the bar. We are always trying to reach where they set the standard. All of us follow men’s cricket because we want at some point that women’s cricket would be up there,” she said. “All of us at some point have been coached by a male cricketer. I strongly believe that they get a lot of intensity into the training sessions. They are very hard taskmasters.”I believe that if you are representing your country, your country should get the best of the best. It’s nothing to do with women coaches [who] don’t have the ability, they do. but if you really want to push the team to the highest level, you need to have somebody who is a tough taskmaster so that the girls really put in the intensity in their training sessions and they carry that into the main tournaments.”

Manchester United are still keeping a close eye on the Harry Kane situation, with reliable journalist Ben Jacobs reporting that the Red Devils have been keeping tabs on the saga over the England captain's future.

How many goals has Harry Kane scored?

The striker has been with Tottenham for the entirety of his career, having come up through the ranks and spent various loan spells away from the side before establishing himself as one of the best forwards in the Premier League.

In 2022/23, he once more plundered 30 top flight goals, with three assists to boot, making it one of his most prolific campaigns yet. That's in spite of the fact that the forward is now 30-years-old – he is showing no signs of slowing down. The England international has managed at least 20 goal contributions in each Premier League season since 2014/15.

He now has 227 career league goals to his name and 213 in the top tier in total. If he stays in England, there is every chance he could continue in this vein and could potentially rack up 250 to perhaps even 300 strikes before his time in the division comes to a close.

When you consider that his efforts this year also led to him finishing second in the goalscoring rankings amongst the Top Five Big Leagues in Europe – only Erling Haaland had more – he is certainly one of the best options in attack in world football right now.

It's led to more interest in his services this summer though – Bayern Munich appear to be the frontrunners for his signature, with the German side prepared to make a bid for the attacker in order to get a deal done.

They also feel that the player himself fancies a move to the Bundesliga – which, if true, would mean a transfer is much easier to complete. In addition, another report states that Tottenham themselves are willing to offload him to the side because they don't want to risk losing him for nothing at the end of next season.

However, United have also been linked this summer, with the Premier League outfit one of the main suitors for him earlier this window.

Are Manchester United signing Harry Kane?

Now, according to reliable journalist Ben Jacobs, the Red Devils are still keeping tabs on the ongoing situation with Kane. They haven't made another bid for the striker yet and didn't feel as though Daniel Levy would be willing to sell him on to another English outfit.

However, he states that they are "watching" on as Bayern try to do business – but that it may take an "astronomical" offer for them to land him. He said: "MUFC haven't returned for Kane to date having felt he would not be sold to a Premier League club, at least not unless an astronomical offer was tabled. They explored the deal and had low optimism anything was possible. They are currently only watching the saga unfold from afar."

If United did decide to launch a move for Kane – whether astronomical or not – signing the striker would be an excellent move. His end product in the Premier League shows that he basically guarantees goals, and that is something the Red Devils would love.

He's also been praised highly by some of the best in the game, with Pep Guardiola calling him "exceptional" and even added that he is one of the "best strikers" he has ever seen.

Everton are believed to be interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Tete in the summer transfer window, according to a new report.

Who is Everton target Tete?

The 23-year-old has been at his current club since 2019, having arrived from his homeland of Brazil, where he previously played for Gremio. Since coming in, he has scored 31 goals in 108 appearances for Shakhtar, also registering 15 assists, showing that he is both a goalscorer and a creative influence in attacking areas.

Back in January, Tete joined Leicester City on loan, hoping to aid their chances of survival in the Premier League, but he was ultimately to prevent them from heading down into the Championship. He only scored once in 13 league outings for the Foxes, not enjoying the success many would have hoped.

That's not to say that the Brazilian couldn't be an exciting target for someone in the current transfer window, however, which is where Everton come into play.

Could Everton sign Tete?

According to talkSPORT, the Blues are eyeing up a summer move for Tete, seeing him as a strong alternative to Leeds United youngster Wilfried Gnonto, should they fail to sign him:

"talkSPORT understands Gnonto, 19, and his advisers are not completely sold on the idea of a move to Goodison Park, and that the Italian could consider staying at Elland Road depending on what other offers he receives.

"While dialogue remains open, Everton have already started drawing up a list of potential alternatives to Italian international Gnonto. These are believed to include Shakhtar Donetsk star Tete, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester."

This could be an intriguing piece of business by Everton this summer, with Tete's goal-scoring record for Shakhtar showing what he is capable of, even if he struggled to make a big impact in a Leicester shirt.

Capable of shining in both a right-sided attacking role and as a centre forward, Tete, known as a "hurricane" by people in Brazil, could add end product and versatility to the Blues' squad, at a time when there is a dearth of it in the attacking third. While not specifically mentioning Everton as a club he would like to join, he has even spoken of his admiration for the Premier League in the past, saying:

"The Premier League is an extraordinary competition, the game is played at a great pace, there are lots of great managers and great clubs."

Tete is still a young player with plenty more improving to do as a player, so he could be viewed as an eye-catching long-term purchase, rather than a short-term quick fix, and is someone with the ability to light up Goodison Park, with Brendan Rodgers recently hailing the player's first touch.

"What a debut for him. It was really good. He knows football, he knows the type of game we were trying to play, his touch is immaculate. He has a good weight of pass but can run in behind. His finish was absolutely brilliant. He loves football off the pitch and he is super professional."

The fact that his current Shakhtar deal expires at the end of December later this year could also mean that his current club consider a bid for him, rather than losing him on a free transfer when his deal runs out. This would act as an added boost for Everton, who could even snap him up for a cut-price amount.

Hashan Tillakaratne has joined the Sri Lanka team as temporary batting coach, and will be with the side until at least the end of the Test series against India. Sri Lanka have been without a permanent batting coach since Marvan Atapattu was raised to the position of head coach in 2014.”Hashan has been with us since the recent Test match against Zimbabwe, actually,” Sri Lanka Cricket manager Asanka Gurusinha said. “At this stage, for all the Tests he will be batting coach. Most probably after the Indian series we’ll discuss with coach Nic Pothas and see what’s happening from there. With all his experience, there is a lot the batsmen can learn from him.”Tillakaratne has been a coach in the SLC system since December last year, largely working with the sides that feed into the national team. He had also previously served as a national selector, between January 2013 and April 2015.A former captain, having led Sri Lanka in 11 Tests, Tillakaratne had hit 11 Test centuries across 83 matches. His is the latest in a spate of recent appointments in the Sri Lanka set-up. Chaminda Vaas replaced the outgoing Champaka Ramanayake as bowling coach on Friday, Pothas replaced Graham Ford in June, and Gurusinha himself was brought in as cricket manager ahead of the Bangladesh series in March.

Manchester City 'can spend' significant money on Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this window if he is a player Pep Guardiola decides to firm up interest in, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Which clubs are interested in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia?

Back in June, FootballTransfers claimed that Manchester City were 'monitoring' Kvaratskhelia following his superb campaign in Serie A with Napoli as he helped his side to their first Scudetto since 1990.

Nevertheless, the outlet report that Napoli would ask for a fee of €150million (£128.5 million) to let the Georgia international depart the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, making it 'hugely unlikely' that he would move on from the Italian giants this window.

Last term, Kvaratskhelia was in fantastic form for Napoli, registering 17 goals and 14 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.

According to Corriere dello Sport via ESPN, Newcastle United have also emerged as suitors for Kvaratskhelia and even made an offer worth £100 million to try and land his services this window.

The Magpies are believed to already be planning a second offer for the 22-year-old, though Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are mooted to be eyeing the Gli Azzurri sensation.

Calciomercato via Football Italia reveal that Kvaratskhelia has no intention to leave Napoli and is in discussions over a contract extension at the club that would see him tied down until the summer of 2028 with the option of an extra year.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Jacobs has indicated that Manchester City could afford to land Kvaratskhelia and has put forward the example of their failed £90 million bid for Rice as a signal that money is there to be spent.

Jacobs told FFC: "Obviously, it's a little bit different for Manchester City because they've had established income from European football, so might be able to put a package together. We know that they've got that type of money lying around because they obviously tabled that £90 million bid for Declan Rice. From a budgetary point of view, sometimes you learn what a club are prepared to spend and can spend under the rules based upon what they tried to spend and failed to spend and then you know that money is there. I just think it's a difficult deal to pull off because Napoli really don't want to lose the player."

What next for Manchester City?

Manchester City boss Guardiola will be keen to add a couple of shiny new players to his squad to accompany the acquisition of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea, as per Transfermarkt.

The Citizens are keen to add Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise to the ranks as a potential replacement for the now-departed Riyad Mahrez; however, they are set to be rebuffed in their advances as Roy Hodgson wishes to keep the France youth international at Selhurst Park, as per Football Insider.

RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol is a long-term target for Manchester City, who have received a deadline of August 12th from the Bundesliga side as they look for a resolution to what could potentially be a record-shattering transfer worth £86 million, according to The Daily Mail.

Nottinghamshire have re-signed left-arm seam bowler Mark Footitt following his release from Surrey for family reasons midway through the season.Footitt, 31, has agreed a deal for the rest of the 2017 summer and the two seasons to follow. He has had a successful season for Surrey, taking 34 wickets at 26.85 in eight Championship matches, but one of his main reasons for heading to London was to achieve England honours and these have not been forthcoming.The closest he came was In 2015 when he netted with the full England squad ahead of the Ashes series without quite managing to claim an international debut. His England ambitions were almost realised when he was chosen for the 2015/16 tour of South Africa but again without England taking the plunge.Footitt admitted that he had never entirely settled in London – his family has never left the East Midlands. “When I signed for Surrey, I looked forward to a long and successful career at the Kia Oval. However, I’ve not been able to settle in London, away from my partner and my daughter.”We have really struggled being apart and my relocation to London has meant I have been away from family support. Manchester United are believed to still be in the running for the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder, Leon Goretzka, with the experienced asset potentially set to be up for grabs this summer amid his uncertain future under Thomas Tuchel.

What is the latest on Goretzka to Man United?

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter, Florian Plettenberg, the Red Devils – as well as fellow Premier League side, West Ham United – remain in the race for the 28-year-old's signature, with the German international having fallen down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena of late.

Writing on Twitter, the transfer insider stated: "ManUtd never lost their focus on Leon #Goretzka! Understand the 28 y/o is still on the list of the club. #MUFC. Goretzka wanted to stay 100 % – but the last ten days have clearly shown that he won’t be a starter under Tuchel for now. Tuchel is planning with Kimmich/Laimer and wants a new „holding six“ on top. Difficult situation.

"ManUtd & Goretzka, situation to watch! Still a dream target for West Ham."

This comes amid a prior report which claimed that the former Schalke man has been deemed 'expendable' by the Bundesliga side, with Tuchel and co potentially willing to cash in if they are to receive a bid of around €50m (£43m).

How good is Leon Goretzka?

With the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek all potentially set to be on their way this summer, it is easy to see why Erik ten Hag is looking to strengthen his midfield ranks even further over the coming weeks, despite having already wrapped up a deal for England international, Mason Mount.

Having been handed the famed number seven shirt by United upon his arrival from Chelsea, Mount appears set to play a key role for the Old Trafford outfit next season, with Ten Hag highlighting the "dynamism" that the 24-year-old can bring to the side in his midfield berth.

On the face of it, it would appear that the one-time Derby County loanee is likely to form a midfield triumvirate including Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, with that latter pair taking up more defensive and advanced starting berths, respectively.

However, throwing Goretzka into the mix could well be something of a blow to Mount's hopes of nailing down that final slot in the centre of the park, with the Bayern man having been hailed as "one of the best box-to-box players in Europe" by former boss Julian Nagelsmann, due to his "incredible goal threat" and ability to "bomb forward".

While United's new man has typically been deployed in a number ten berth or on the flanks in recent years for both club and country, Goretzka, by contrast, is a perhaps more orthodox option as a number eight, having lined up alongside Joshua Kimmich over the past few seasons in a midfield pivot.

Ther £297k-per-week gem's quality in that role is shown by the fact that ranks in the top 4% among those in his position in Europe's top five leagues for assists and in the top 13% for non-penalty goals, while Mount, by contrast, ranks in just the top 18% and the top 26%, respectively for those two metrics.

Lauded as a "beast" by Apple's Cristian Nyari, the 6 foot 2 Goretzka could also perhaps offer more defensively as he ranks in the top 21% for interceptions and in the top 9% for aerial duels won, with that again far ahead of Mount's return over the last 365 days (bottom 10% and the bottom 29%, respectively).

While not to suggest that the latter man should already be cast aside, it could be the case that the Englishman's long-term future at the Theatre of Dreams may lie in a more attacking role in the forward line, with Goretzka a perhaps more suitable fit to partner Casemiro next season, due to his all-round strengths.
