West Ham United Ready To Submit Bid For £20m Striker

West Ham United are preparing an offer to bring Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres to the Premier League, according to reports.

What's the latest on Gyokeres to West Ham?

The Sky Blues forward has now entered the final 18 months of his contract at the Building Society Arena and being Mark Robins' top-performing offensive player, alongside establising himself as the current second-highest goalscorer in the Championship, has caught the eye of David Moyes and the Irons hierarchy.

Back in November, Football League World credited the Irons, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Everton with an interest in the 24-year-old, who could well be on the move this summer should a sizable enough proposal be put on the table. 90min have further reported that the Midlands outfit are bracing themselves for bids at the end of the season, and have therefore set a price tag of £20m, which is a £4m increase on the £16m that they were demanding in January.

Now, according to Football Insider, West Ham are "ready to fight" their fellow competitors to make sure that they win the race for Gyokeres ahead of the 2023/24 term. The London Stadium outfit are supposedly ready to offer their target the "best financial package" above all of his other potential suitors, meaning that Moyes' side are "well-placed" to come out on top. The hierarchy are "ready to submit" a large offer to see off their rivals in the form of Leeds, Everton, Palace, Brentford and Fulham.

Should West Ham splash the cash on Gyokeres?

West Ham acquired the services of Aston Villa's former striker Danny Ings in January, but Michail Antonio's future was extremely uncertain having admitted to a close friend that he could have departed before the end of the window, so should he leave at the end of the season, Gyokeres would be the perfect attacking replacement.

The Sweden international has a remarkable return in the final third this season having racked up 26 goal contributions (18 goals and eight assists) in 38 Championship appearances, where he's currently averaging 3.1 shots per game, form which has seen him take home an outstanding eight man-of-the-match awards.

The 6 foot 2 target man also ranks in the 99th percentile for progressive carries and the 98th percentile for most shot-creating actions, via FBRef, showing that he's always looking to produce moments of magic even when he's not always on the scoresheet.

Dubbed an "unplayable" attacker by his Coventry teammate Maxime Biamou, Gyokeres can operate on the left and right wings, as a second striker and even on the left and right side of a midfield four alongside his natural centre-forward role, so would add plenty of versatility to Moyes' squad.

West Ham Set For Three Man Injury Boost

Insider ExWHUEmployee has revealed that West Ham United trio Emerson Palmieri, Nayef Aguerd and Gianluca Scamacca are all in contention to play today despite fitness concerns.

What's the latest West Ham team news?

The Hammers face a huge game at the bottom of the Premier League today as they take on fellow relegation rivals Southampton at the London Stadium.

Indeed, both teams come into the fixture inside the bottom three, with David Moyes' men only one place and one point above the last-placed Saints.

Remarkably, with things so tight at the bottom of the division, a win could see West Ham rise as far as 14th in the division thanks to superior goal difference and with Everton not playing until tomorrow.

With that in mind, Moyes will want his best team available for selection and it sounds as though that could be a possibility with a few players potentially in line to play amid recent fitness issues.

Indeed, in a written post on The West Ham Way, Ex revealed that Emerson, Aguerd and Scamacca could all be involved in this important fixture.

He said: "The manager reported in his press conference that Emerson was suffering from a virus, Aguerd a sore hip and Scamacca was still feeling his knees but we believe all of them could be available for selection today."

Will Emerson, Aguerd and Scamacca play against Southampton?

As alluded to by Ex, it had looked as though the Hammers had been dealt a triple fitness blow with the aforementioned players all doubts coming into the game.

Indeed, speaking to the press in the week, Moyes explained that his team have "got a couple of illnesses here and there and a couple of odd injuries" to deal with.

He then went on to specifically say: “Emerson has got a bit of sickness, Aguerd came back with a bit of a grumbly hip and Scamacca’s got a sore knee. We’ll need to see how they are in the next few days.”

But following this update from Ex, it now seems as though that woe could be turned into joy with all three potentially available to pass a late fitness test and be involved.

All three have played over 1300 minutes for the club this season – with the most in the team being Jarrod Bowen on 2900 – so they're important squad players, even if Moyes has had to make do without them on other occasions this term.

With so much on the line today, it would be a major boost to have any of the three back, let alone all of them.

Arsenal’s "Erratic" Star Is Now Worth 340% More

Arsenal neared the international break with just one game remaining: a tricky fixture as they welcomed a managerless Crystal Palace to the Emirates.

Having just sacked Gunners favourite Patrick Vieira in the wake of the clash, it made what should have been a routine fixture slightly more unpredictable.

With a few injuries also beginning to mount, it seemed like everything was culminating in the perfect storm for the Eagles to come and snatch a result at the home of the league leaders; especially when William Saliba hobbled off in their Europa League exit at the hands of Sporting CP.

The Frenchman had been a true breakout star of their remarkable Premier League campaign, bursting onto the world stage to perfectly partner Gabriel Magalhaes throughout the year.

It would be the first league game this term where the two had not started together, so his absence launched an inquest within the club. Who would replace the formidable 22-year-old, and could they live up to the immense heights set in such a high-pressure game?

The stage was set for an unlikely hero to emerge, and up stepped Rob Holding.

How much is Rob Holding worth?

In what was just his first league start of the season, the 27-year-old was lauded for his immaculate display at the back, quelling the threat of a potentially resurgent Palace as they cruised to victory.

Earning a 7.3 average rating, his performance was underpinned by five clearances and two tackles, alongside a 91% pass accuracy (via Sofascore).

Everyone rushed to congratulate the forgotten figure, who had barely had a sniff due to the quality of the teammates in his position. But dusting off the cobwebs, he stepped up when his side needed him most.

Arteta even singled him out for praise following, noting: "Rob [Holding] came in and was brilliant today. Everyone has to give another edge to be at the same level, it’s not a secret."

Journalist Josh Bunting sought to double down on such praise, and wrote on Twitter in January: "Rob Holding an absolute gentleman, the way he conducts himself."

Many had worried about the damage his inclusion might cause, with Gary Neville having labelled him "erratic" just last season for his role in their loss to rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

rob-holding-arsenal-value

However, he showed a glimpse into what a fine defender he might have become, had he found some consistency earlier in his career.

Despite some inconsistencies, Holding remains a fine servant to the club, having only joined for a meagre £2m fee back in 2016. He has since gone on to feature 156 times, and could now claim the ultimate domestic prize after all these years.

Such is his rise to prominence, his value has unsurprisingly soared alongside. His €10m (£8.8m) Transfermarkt valuation marks a 340% increase across his period at the Emirates.

A well-liked figure by fans, staff and the media, for the £40k-per-week stalwart to be the man to step up in their hour of need was poetic. The only hope is that he can now maintain such form until Saliba returns, whenever that may be.

Rangers’ 48-Touch Gem Was Beale’s "Standout" Performer

Glasgow Rangers suffered a damaging 3-2 Old Firm defeat this afternoon which has all but ended their slim Premiership title aspirations that they had going under Michael Beale – and thoughts now turn to 2023/24.

Both sides had a goal ruled out during the first half and they went into the break with the scores at 1-1. James Tavernier scored a sublime free kick on the stroke of half-time to go within one of a century of Rangers goals.

The full-back would score his 100th with a cleverly taken header, yet it was all too late for the Light Blues, as two calamitous mistakes by Ben Davies and John Souttar had earlier Celtic a 3-1 advantage.

Beale has yet to win an Old Firm game since taking over at the club back in November, and this will have to totally change next season if they are to challenge for the league title.

Despite the defeat, a few players made themselves known – most notably Tavernier, who put in a solid display; yet, it was January signing Nicolas Raskin who looked at home in the Gers' midfield axis.

How did Nicolas Raskin play for Rangers against Celtic?

The Belgian came in for John Lundstram in the starting XI ahead of the game and proved why Beale wanted him so badly during the January transfer window.

He received a Sofascore rating of 6.4/10, which wasn’t the best in the team, but his combative nature and ability to hunt down every ball were key to Rangers enjoying some success through the match, especially when they pressed Celtic and forced them to make mistakes.

Indeed, Raskin managed 48 touches throughout the tie, and although he made just 76% of his passes, the midfielder succeeded with both his dribble attempts, won five duels and made two tackles, showing great physicality to stand his ground and only being dribbled past once in the whole game.

Nicolas Raskin for Rangers

It looks like he will be a huge success at the Ibrox side, and being thrown into a first league derby start in the most important game of the season is an indication of the faith placed into him by Beale.

Rangers Review journalist Joshua Barrie claimed that Raskin was the “standout” for Rangers while also stating that the 22-year-old was “such an upgrade in midfield”, and if Beale can build a Rangers side around him and a few other players ahead of next term, we think the title race could be a lot closer.

West Ham United Now Set Sights On £31k-p/w "Game Changer"

West Ham United are plotting a move to bring Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze to the Premier League, even 'going crazy' for his signature, according to reports.

What's the latest on Chukwueze's future?

The Irons have had an extremely underwhelming season that currently sees them just four points above the drop zone and in danger of relegation, but regardless of their status at the end of the season, attacking reinforcements will still be needed if they are to change their fortunes.

The Nigerian international’s contract with the La Liga outfit is set to expire next summer, meaning that the upcoming window will be his club’s final big opportunity to cash in, and being Quique Setien’s third best-performing offensive player, has caught the eye of David Moyes.

According to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), West Ham, alongside top-flight rivals Arsenal, have “set their sights” on signing Chukwueze ahead of the 2023/24 term. The Yellow Submarines winger’s performances have “caught the attention” of the hierarchy in both E20 and N7, with the two sides “going crazy” to secure his services.

Villarreal have the “intention” to get him to put pen to paper on fresh terms and extend his stay, but the 23-year-old so far “hasn’t accepted” the offer to renew his deal and therefore “could be thinking of changing” teams in the weeks and months ahead.

Villarreal forward Samuel Chukwueze.

Would Chukwueze be a good signing for West Ham?

Chukwueze’s price tag yet remains to be seen, but should the affordable opportunity arise for West Ham, it would be a massive coup for them to seal his signature having been dubbed a “game changer” by talent scout Jacek Kulig.

The left-footed ace has clocked up 24 goal contributions (13 goals and 11 assists) in 41 appearances across all competitions so far this season and ranks in the 99th percentile for successful take-ons, highlighting his prolific form and desire to make the magic happen in the final third.

The Europa League winner and Champions League participant also currently averages 4.23 shot-creating actions per game which is higher than any other of his fellow teammates, showing that he’s a standout performer when looking to produce chances.

Finally, Chukwueze, who is pocketing £31k-per-week at Villarreal, would add excellent versatility to Moyes’ squad having operated in five various positions since the start of his career, including out wide on both flanks and at centre-forward, so this really is a no-brainer of a decision to make when it comes to completing a deal this summer.

Spurs May Soon Sack 48 y/o Cristian Stellini

Sky Sports reporter Paul Gilmour has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur could sack interim manager Cristian Stellini after the club's humiliating loss.

What's the latest on Spurs and their manager?

It's hardly been a good season for the North London outfit but some must have hoped things would improve when Antonio Conte left a few weeks ago.

Instead of a new manager bounce, however, the club have sunken even further into their own misery with the Italian's former assistant Stellini now pulling the strings.

Indeed, the shocking 6-1 defeat at Newcastle United in the Premier League over the weekend means the interim has won just one of his four games in charge and it sounds as though he might not be around to oversee many more.

Indeed, when asked if he thinks Stellini could be sacked before the end of the season, Gilmour revealed that the club's hierarchy were at the training ground early on Monday morning so an exit for the 48-year-old might be on the cards.

He told Sky Sports News (1:40): "It wouldn't surprise me if the club were at least discussing that after what happened yesterday.

"We have seen many of the club's hierarchy drive into the training ground early this morning."

Will Cristian Stellini be sacked by Spurs?

Stellini was promoted by Daniel Levy to take charge until the end of the season, giving Spurs ample time to decide a long-term replacement for Conte who would be hired in the summer.

With that in mind, it's a remarkable turn of events which leaves the club now potentially on the brink of sacking the 48-year-old coach.

Only adding to Gilmour's insight, Dan Kilpatrick has reported in the Evening Standard that "sources" at Spurs are unsure if Stellini will last until Thursday when Manchester United travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – with Ryan Mason tipped to potentially step up.

TottenhamHotspurmanagerCristian Stellini

The current interim certainly has come in for some heavy criticism in the media after the loss at Newcastle, with Jamie Carragher calling for him to be sacked.

The pundit wrote on Twitter: "Tottenham are a disgrace!

"How have they gone to a back four for the first time this season, with Porro a full back that can’t defend & Perisic who is a winger.

"Get a proper manager in right now, not Conte’s mate."

While Stellini himself dropped a damning assessment of the game, telling reporters (via Goal): "There are no words to explain a performance like this. The first 25 minutes were maybe the worst I've ever seen. Changing the system was the wrong decision and that's my responsibility.

"We have to apologise to everyone. If it's the system, it's easier to change. If it's not the system, then we have to analyse why.

Celtic Battling Rangers For £3k-p/w Midfielder

Celtic are battling Rangers and Aberdeen to sign Liverpool midfielder Leighton Clarkson this summer, according to a recent report from Football Insider.

What's the latest Celtic transfer news?

With Matt O'Riley potentially on his way out in the summer transfer window, Celtic have started to look at new options in central midfield, having recently made contact with FC Koln's Denis Huseinbasic, although rivals Rangers have done the same.

FC Luzern captain Ardon Jashari is said to have told his agent that he intends to play Champions League football next season, amid links with a move to Parkhead, which could hand the Hoops a real boost in the race for his signature.

However, Ange Postecoglou is also set to look at options from closer to home, as Football Insider now report Celtic are ready to battle Rangers and Aberdeen for the signature of Clarkson this summer, after an impressive loan spell with Aberdeen this season.

The Dons are determined to make a move to sign their loanee permanently in the off-season, but the Hoops have also been alerted to his potential availability, as he caught the eye when he featured against Postecoglou's side earlier in the season.

Rangers may have a potential advantage in the race, as Michael Beale worked with the 21-year-old during his time with Liverpool, but the Celtic boss is also monitoring the midfielder's situation, as he wants to bolster his options in the engine room this summer.

Should Celtic sign Leighton Clarkson?

The starlet has proven to be a very shrewd acquisition for Aberdeen this season, ranking as the club's second-best performing player in the Scottish Premiership, having averaged a very solid Sofascore match rating of 7.14.

In 33 games in all competitions, the Clitheroe-born maestro has weighed in with five goals and eight assists, and many of which have caught eye, with members of the media claiming that he "only scores belters".

Having also been hailed as "top talent" by reporter Matt Addison, the £3k-per-week youngster still has plenty of time to develop further, and he could be the perfect replacement for O'Riley, should the 22-year-old depart this summer.

With Celtic currently way out in front at the top of the Scottish Premiership, and potentially just one game away from sealing the title, a move to Parkhead could well be the most attractive proposition for Clarkson, and Postecoglou should go all out to secure his signature.
